Wednesday February 24

6:00 PM  –  7:30 PM

Margaret Smith, Executive Director of The Trumpeter Swan Society, will share the amazing story of the return of Trumpeter Swans to North America and the key players in their return. Each region has its own story such as the Midwest restoration efforts that included collecting eggs in the wilds of Alaska. During this program, you'll learn about the different priorities for swan management and restoration across the four North American flyways, the role of zoos and refuges in the swan's return, and the habitat and health issues swans face today. Her presentation will also include “Trumpeter Swan 101” and recognizing different swan behaviors.

About The Trumpeter Swan Society: For over 50 years, The Trumpeter Swan Society has been the only nonprofit working on Trumpeter Swan issues across North America at the local, state and national levels. Our mission is to assure the vitality and welfare of wild Trumpeter Swans. Program areas of TTSS are restoration and management of Trumpeter Swans (including the Oregon Restoration Project), habitat security and swan health, and education and research about Trumpeter Swans, including our citizen science Trumpeter Watch program.
