Mushroom Foraging Field Trip

Join us on a search for wild and edible mushrooms led by the Central Oregon Mushroom Club. On this field trip you’ll receive an introduction to fungi diversity and learn how to identify different types of mushrooms in the forest. You’ll also learn how to identify proper habitats and collect mushrooms. Field trip is limited in capacity (adults only, no pets please) and pre-registration is required. Please meet at the Nature Center parking lot by 10:00am. Each individual is responsible for their own transportation to and from the National Forest. Plan to travel up to one hour away from Sunriver along the Cascade Lakes Highway.

A free Forest Products Free Use Permit from the U.S. Forest Service office in Bend is needed to collect mushrooms. Please bring this document with you on the field trip. To get your permit, contact Bend Fort Rock Ranger District via phone, email, or in-person. You will need to provide your full name, mailing address, and driver's license or state ID number.
