Astrophotography Workshop

This event is no longer on sale.

Friday September 23

8:30 PM  –  11:00 PM

Join us for our first ever Astrophotography Workshop with local photographer Christian Murillo.  This event will take advantage of the new moon to photograph the iconic dark skies of Central Oregon.  After a short classroom session, we will check out the largest publicly accessible observatory in the nation.  Here, we will learn about what we will be photographing in the night sky, particularly the Milky Way galaxy.  Then, we will head out into the field to photograph the Milky Way and countless constellations as they drift across the pitch black sky.

A DSLR or Mirrorless camera and tripod are required for this workshop.  Due to the long exposures required by night photography, a tripod is a must.  Bringing your fastest (largest aperture) lens is also strongly recommended.  Some other gear to bring include a headlamp with a red light feature, warm layers, comfortable walking or hiking shoes, and a backpack for your gear.  Remote triggers or shutter releases are also recommended.

Space in this workshop is limited to just six people, so sign up now!
